It is sadly being reported that Dan Wheldon has passed away following a crash during an Indy race on Sunday (October 16).
The Indianapolis 500 champion was among fifteen divers being swept up in a massive accident during the Las Vegas Indy 300 in Las Vegas, Nevada.
With the incident taking place during lap thirteen, Wheldon's race car was thrown into the air and overtop another vehicle before smashing back onto the track.
Being transported to a local hospital for treatment, it was later sadly announced that 33-year-old Wheldon had died from injuries sustained in the incident.
