The CSI alum and his wife Gina Cirone welcomed twins via surrogate on July 5, in Los Angeles, CA.
Rumors are that the twins are a boy & a girl and according to Petersen's rep, the pair were born prematurely but are steadily improving.
"The babies are doing great and are improving every day and we can't wait for them to come home," the couple, who married in July 2003, tell PEOPLE.58-year-old William Petersen is already a father to daughter Maite, 36 who has two sons of her own.
How strange do you think it is for Maite to have a step-mom who's the same age, if not younger than she is? Sorta gives me the creeps but good for him!
